Who we are
The Sikh Medical Initiative (SMI) is a national organization dedicated to empowering Sikh medical students and trainees. We create sangat, foster mentorship, and provide leadership opportunities through panels, workshops, mentorship programs, and community outreach events.
Our mission to support Sikhs in health-related fields, cultivate culturally competent care, and foster connection across institutions and specialties arose out of need to amplify Sikh voices in medicine––for providers and patients alike. By building a nationwide network rooted in seva, equity, and shared identity, SMI helps the next generation of Sikh physicians thrive and lead with purpose.
