Kes in Medicine: Identity in Practice

The Sikh Medical Initiative (SMI) hosted Kes in Medicine: Identity in Practice, a panel discussion exploring the intersection of Sikh identity and the practice of medicine. Bringing together physicians from diverse specialties, the event created space for an honest conversation about navigating professional life while honoring Kes and maintaining a visible Sikh identity.

Panelists shared their personal journeys through medical training and clinical practice, reflecting on mentorship, representation, and the challenges and opportunities of being visibly Sikh in healthcare. Attendees gained valuable insights into building confidence, finding supportive mentors, and embracing authenticity throughout their careers.

Through conversations like these, SMI continues its commitment to fostering mentorship, strengthening community, and empowering Sikh students and trainees to succeed in medicine without compromising their identity or values.
