Mentorship program and secondaries

The Sikh Medical Initiative (SMI) hosted a Mentorship Program & Secondaries Workshop, a virtual event designed to support pre-medical students as they navigate the medical school application process and learn more about the value of mentorship.

The workshop introduced students to SMI’s new mentorship program and explored how meaningful mentorship can provide guidance, support, and community throughout the pre-med journey. Attendees also received an overview of the medical school secondary application process, including strategies and best practices for writing strong secondary essays and distinguishing themselves as applicants.

Beyond application guidance, the workshop emphasized the importance of building relationships and finding a supportive community throughout the path to medicine. Participants had the opportunity to connect with SMI and learn how the mentorship program can support their academic and professional growth.

The virtual workshop was held on August 20, 2026 at 4:30 PM PT via Zoom.
